Metal Maidens

Most of you already know me, if not from this event, then from others. My name is MarciAnn Yantz I am the Captain of The Metal Maidens. I volunteer, rescue, foster, network, transport and fundraise. In addition, I have a couple of my own events that I have started and they will be in their 6th year this year. I connect animals with people and services. I presently have 7 of my own rescues at home. Animals are my passion and I am blessed to have a husband and children who share my passion, I could not do it without them. I believe that my Greatest Gift to animal rescue & welfare is that I know many, many wonderful, kind and giving people. Each time I ask, they give. It is through their kindness, generosity and support that I am able to do what I do. I have vowed to be their voice for as long as I have one. Now it is time for you to Meet My Metal Maidens!

Amy Core is my friend and Co-Worker. She has been a Metal Maiden in the past and I am so glad she will be with us this year, our last. She is our Shipping Manager here at Pacific Metal Fab, LLC and I could not do what I do without here. She is the Mom to 3 amazing daughters and for the majority of the time I have known her, she has raised these girls on her own. Last year she and the girls adopted from Lucky Paws Rescue. Neo is a German Shepherd mis and is totally in love with them all.

Amy Rayfield is my friend. I met her through a friend when we were hosting a fundraiser for animals, "Smooches for Pooches." Amy belonged to the Modified Dolls and they volunteered to help with our event. It may have only been the 1st time but, certainly has not been the last. Amy is the Mother of 2 and hold on to your hats....... She has 3 Dogs( just adopted one from Beginning to End) 1 cat, 1 snake, 2 Cockatiels, 2 Halloween Moon Crabs, and a Beta. I have enjoyed getting to know Amy and look forward to learning more. This is Amy's 1st year as a Metal Maiden.

Angel Marquez and I met through animal rescue. She and her family have fostered over 100 dogs in the last 4 years. They presently have 6 of their own dogs. Angel is the Mother of 3 children ages 23, 16 and 6. I admire Angels knowledge and dedication she brigs to rescue and all that she does. Angel is also a Survivor, through it all she suffered and beat Breast Cancer. She is truly an Angel. This is Angel's 1st year as a Metal Maiden and we are so glad she is a part of our team.

Brenda Brown Hughey is back again this year and I could not be happier. Brenda has handled our families car insurance, renters, home and life insurance for years. She is bright, personable and knowledgeable. Brenda  was bitten by the rescue bug and lives it daily. She has many personal pets and continues to open her home to others who have been abandoned, abused, neglected and surrendered. She has spent thousands of dollars from her own pocket to ensure that each one who needs care, gets it. She has suffered many losses and each has taken a part of her heart when they have crossed the bridge. She is also the President of Oregon Rider's Society. You may recognize the name as they have hosted The Springfield Christmas Miracle Parade. This long standing tradition was going to be cancelled but, ORS was not going to let that happen. ORS Principles-Oregon Riders Society (ORS) was founded on three key principles: Loyalty, Respect, and Happiness. ORS helps families in need with the expectation of one condition: if able to do so at some point in their life, pay it forward. Having the ability to reach families in time of need unites our local communities, but also restores faith in humanity. The needs of children have always been a core value to which every ORS member stands for believing that “Every Child Deserves a Fighting Chance.” I could not be prouder to have Brenda as a Metal Maiden and even more pride in that I can call her my friend.

Denise Shimp we are so glad to have Denise back with us again. I have know Denise since the 7th grade. I did my 1st rescue with Denise at that time, a Beagle we named Shadow. We found him at the school and we took turns skipping classes to take care of him. I ultimately took it home and a family was found for him. Denise rescues and trains the Large Breeds, Mastiff, New Foundland, Great Dane, Rottweiler, Doberman and more. She also has trapped, fostered and adopted cats. She has also had McCaws. Denise recently moved back to Oregon, she was living in Oklahoma. While there she came across a backyard breeder. She was able to rescue 2 litters, one went to a rescue in the area and the other, 4 Great Pyrenees pups accompanied her back to Oregon. Not as easy feat to fit a full grown New Foundland, her personal dog and a litter of large breed pups. I admire Denise so much and what she has done for rescue and what she brings to rescue.

Donna Maxson is a 2nd year Metal Maiden and prior to becoming part of the team, she was a donor! Donna holds a very special place in my heart. I met her when I moved to the area when I was 13. She was one of the 1st people I met. I have some of the fondest memories with Donna and it did involve an animal, my white rat, Elton John. We spent a lot of time riding our bikes and he came along on my shoulder or hers. As often is the case, our lives took separate paths but 35+ years later, we found one another again! Donna is the mother of 1 son, Aaron and (2) 15 year old shelter kitties, they are siblings and were adopted through 1st avenue. So blessed to have Donna back in my life and grateful that she is a Metal Maiden!

Jacque Myers is back again! Jacque is my Co-Worker. She is a wonderful addition to our office. She keeps us all organized and on our toes. She brings laughter and smiles to all that meet her. I don't think that there is anything she cannot fix or any task she won't take on. She gives everything she does 100% and when she sets her mind on accomplishing something, of course she succeeds. Jacque has 2 small dogs at home. Missa Bug has been The Metal Maidens Mascot. She is just the happiest little dog! Unfortunately, she is having some health issues right now related to age. Jacque is attentive and providing her with the best care possible.

Mary Moore is a 1st year Metal Maiden. Mary's home would not be complete without her animals. She is currently blessed with a sweet petite tabby as well as a gorgeous Maine Coon, both are Greenhill rescues & graduates. These two bring Mary endless joy and can turn any bad day into a good one. Mary is a huge supporter of all animals having a safe place to call their "forever home" and she will advocate for them at all costs. Please help Mary as she joins me and the other Metal Maidens as we champion to be the voices for those that don't have one!
